There is an abundance of free Web 2.0 services out there that can provide free websites and blogs. For example blogger, squidoo, livejournal, blinkweb etc. Another advantage of using these types of services is that they tend to rank high for search engines so that opens another door for your customers.
An advantage blogs have over websites here is that they can push the new posts to search engines, when using websites you need to wait for the search engines to come find you. If you don’t want to buy marketing this can be a good option.

Personal referral is a very powerful when it comes to generating small business leads. This is something social networking platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook can help you with. They help you to connect easily with your customers and potential new customers. These services are completely free to use and a good way for you to connect with the people who are likely to actually want to listen to what you have to say.

Another way to drive traffic is to use your email signature line! Just include a link to your blog or website, in addition to the usual contact information. If you want to take this one step further you can include an offer to increase the chance of someone clicking the link. Offer something free that would be interesting to someone in your field of business.
